Conclusion- Yurchenkos are still the most popular vaults in the world. When given the choice to try a Yuchenko or a Tsukahara for the backwards vault, everybody chose the Yurchenko. The Tsukahara vaults are generally valued .2 higher than Yurchenkos, but there is perhaps more potential to upgrade a Yurchenko. We’ve seen tons of Amanars, but we’ve never seen a Tsukahara 2 1/2 (valued at 6.7). The Layout Podkopayeva was one of the two most popular Yurcheko 1/2 on vaults, and probably the smartest. The full twist off is harder to land cleanly, and when downgraded as it was for the two gymnasts who attempted it is only worth .1 more. The layout rudi was the most popular handspring vault.
A similar post may be coming for the other apparatuses, depending on how much time I have. I’m guessing that they will take much longer.
