About

Hello! I am Laura, a college freshman with a huge gymnastics obsession, which I hope to share with all of you.

In 2010, I decided to start this blog dedicated to gymnastics, my favorite sport and a sport that is often forgotten between the olympic games. In reality, it is a year round sport, but it only gets the recognition it should for about five days every four years. This blog is used to discuss gymnastics year round. My posts are almost always about elite women’s artistic gymnastics, but I will occasionally post about JO gymnastics, NCAA gymnastics, men’s artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and figure skating.

I was a recreational gymnast, but never anywhere near the elite level. I am toying with the idea of getting back into the gym either for open gym or for a class, but haven’t gotten around to it. I think I am afraid of falling back into the same pattern that caused me to quit in the first place, when I realized that I was going nowhere in the sport and therefore stopped enjoying it. I was also not very motivated; while I really liked gymnastics, I never wanted to do the work that I needed to do to improve. Now, I think that I would be ready to put everything that I have into it. This is going to sound silly, but I want my back tuck!

If it is not obvious already, through watching elite gymnastics on the TV and on youtube, I have regained my love for the sport. It is, in my biased opinion, the most beautiful, difficult and daring sport in the world.

Between the Olympics also has a twitter account and a youtube channel, with over 100 gymnastics videos. Please follow and subscribe!

About the header: The gymnast in the header is Tatiana Groshkova, one of the most talented and beautiful gymnasts ever, whose inconsistency kept her from making a world or olympic team. The photo is from Gymn Forum.

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy my blog!
