Alabama, from what I saw, looked great. They did have one fall on beam, but came back from it. Kim Jacob, a qualifier to tomorrow’s event finals, posted the highest beam score of the competition so far, 9.95. Their vaults were HUGE. Their floor routines had difficult tumbling and great execution. I did not see any bars, their lowest scoring event, due to issues with the live feed. All in all, it was a well deserved national title. Congratulations.
UCLA had a good meet, but although they were close to Alabama for most of the meet, they had to end on beam. They managed to stay on during all of their routines, but were wobbly throughout. Their top score was Tauny Frattone’s 9.95 on vault.
Oklahoma had a fantastic competition. I enjoyed watching Megan Ferguson, especially on beam where she performs a very stylish routine. Their top score, 9.95, came from Natasha Kelley on bars.
