Doha Finals, Day 1
The first two finals, vault and bars, took place today at the Doha Challenger Cup. Gymnastics Coaching posted links to the results.
|Name||Total||VT 1||VT 1 D||VT 1 E||VT 2||VT 2 D||VT 2 E|
|1||Daniele Matias Hypolito||13.55||13.95||5||8.95||13.15||4.8||8.35|
|2||Makarena Pinto Adasme||13.425||13.75||5.2||8.55||13.1||5.4||7.7|
|4||Nancy Mohamed Taman||13.1||12.9||4.4||8.5||13.3||4.6||8.7|
|4||Farida Ahmed Shokry||13.1||13.45||5.1||8.35||12.75||4.4||8.35|
It seems like Daniele Hypolito has downgraded since worlds, but her scores were still good enough to win this competition. Makarena Pinto had the highest difficulty, but the execution on her second vault prevented her from winning. The rest of the competition was filled with gymnasts who did not have enough difficulty to outweigh their 6s, 7s and 8s in executions
Tan Sixin struggled earlier this year in Cottbus, but has rebounded well here. From yesterday’s results, it looks like she upgraded in prelims (6.7) and earned her highest bars score ever, 15.0. It seems like everybody else struggled. Maybe Larissa Miller and Moldir Azimbay hit, but the rest of the gymnasts must have had at least one fall or major mistake.
Overall, this seems much less competitive than the Cottbus Cup, the first Challenger Cup of the year. Tan Sixin and Yao Jinnan should have no problem dominating the beam and floor finals tomorrow. Those two are the class of the field in this competition. I will link today’s results to videos if they become available.
