Komova’s Russian Championships Bars

February 24, 2011

Not quite… but a news clip posted on her website shows part of them. As I predicted from the photos, she is competing a piked stalder shaposhnikova (apparently she wants a second Komova). She connected it to a pak salto, then performed the piked stalder shaposhnikova 1/2. The score 16.0 (6.8/9.2) was flashed on the screen. That is probably the score before the bonus. I am curious to see what else she has done to get up to 6.8 in difficulty.

Anna Pavlova was shown competing a layout stepout. A few other girls were shown during podium training, but I’m not sure who they were. One (perhaps Myzdrikova) did a pak salto and one crashed a double pike.

Dementyeva and Mustafina were both interviewed. Is anybody able to translate what they said?

That score makes sense then. 16.7 is outrageous! I bet Komova’s bar routine was: in-bar stalder shaposh + pak, komova, in-bar stalder half + straight jager, in-bar stalder full + tkatchev + pak, full twist double tuck dismount. She wouldn’t get credit for the 2nd pak, but her start score is 6.8 That’s my guess..

I don’t think that the second pak would get any connection bonus. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think a repeated skill only gets bonus when it is connected to itself. So for that routine, I’m getting-
D+D .1 (unless the shaposhnikova is a E, and if the Komova isn’t I don’t think it would be)
      D+E .2
      E+D+D .2
      3Es, 5Ds +.5+2.5=Still 6.5.
I think she got rid of the tkachev+pak combination because she was struggling with it. The two times she messed up bars in a major competition last year, it was on that combination. I guess we just have to wait and see what else she has done with her routine. Hopefully there will be a news report from the team finals that shows something else!
