Who on Earth

December 20, 2010

Would make this floor music? It is really the the worst floor music ever. There is almost no competition. First, whoever decided that vocals were okay in floor routines should be fired immediately from their position in the FIG. Vocals=bad. But what the hell is this? It’s hard breathing and beat boxing. That obviously doesn’t work in a floor routine. It is unacceptable that somebody would give Maksyuta this music. Or that she would choose it herself.

Unacceptable thing, #2

I really tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. Her beam work, for the most part, is quite lovely. But then I saw this. The music was never good, but at about 1:20, it got to be more than I could handle. I have come to the conclusion that she was given this music to distract the judges when it is time for her double pike. Because that double pike is a close second to her music on my list of unacceptable things. There is a .1 deduction for legs less than shoulder width apart, and there is .3 a deduction for legs more than shoulder width apart. I wish there was a .5 deduction for legs way more than shoulder width apart.

So here’s the routine:

Conclusion: Vocals should not be allowed because they will lead to more of this.

I will post about some more Voronin Cup videos soon.

A double pike worthy of the 70s.

I guess you have to give her credit for trying something a bit different but, yeah, that floor routine doesn’t work.
