Italian Grand Prix Results

Mustafina, Komova and Kanaeva (photo: federginnastica.it)

It seems like Viktoria Komova had the best competition, winning bars and coming second on beam. Aliya Mustafina must have messed up on bars, but beat Komova on beam. However, Komova probably had a shaky routine, because she is more that capable of outscoring Mustafina. Serena Licchetta, a 2009 world finalist on bars finished second on her best event. Elisabetta Preziosa who is starting to be known for her gorgeous beam work finished fourth on that event. Tan Sixin and Vanessa Ferrari did not compete.

I will post videos once they are available.

After seeing videos: I’m impressed with Mustafina’s beam. It was wobbly and she didn’t compete her dismount, but she actually has upgraded since worlds! Her beam could potentially be scored out of 6.7 if she got all the connections. Komova was wobbly and missed a lot of connections; I can see why she was second. She did attempt a new double turn, though! Her bars were good except for the leg separation on the pak. I’m always afraid of that skill now that she’s screwed it up in major competition twice.
