Asian Games: Important Roster Changes
These changes make no difference in the competition for the gold and silver medals unless China or Japan have some major mistakes, but they do make a difference in the competition for the team bronze and possibly some individual medals.
First, North Korea is still listed with a team. I’m not sure if that means anything, I only find it interesting because while a few rosters have been changed, they remain on the list.
Maybe I just missed it, but I don’t remember seeing a team for India listed the first time. Now, the team is Dipa Karmakar, Meenakshi Meenakshi and Priti Das.
Two gymnasts, Xi Hui Nicole Tay and Jia Hui Tabitha Tay, have been removed from Singapore’s roster. This means that they do not have a full team to compete for a team medal.
Uzbekistan has added Daria Elizarova to their roster in place of Emrina Abduvalieva. This will give them a huge boost in the team competition, and Elizarova may be able to take away an individual medal or two as well.
Assuming teams need four gymnasts to compete, this leaves four teams in the race for the medals: China, Japan, South Korea and Uzbekistan.
