Russian Championships Team Competition
The Central Team won the team competition today, followed by the Moscow Team and the Privoljskiy Team. You can see the full results here.
Viktoria Komova, Anna Pavlova, Anna Dementyeva, Krinstina Kruglikova, Maria Stepanova, and Yulia Inshina were on the Central Team. Komova and Dementyeva’s scores were counted for multiple teams. Scores also appear for Aliya Mustafina, even though she wasn’t supposed to compete. Since they match her scores from world team finals, I believe that they just added the scores without her actually competing.
The highest scores today (ignoring Mustafina’s) were Anna Pavlova’s 14.95 on vault, Viktoria Komova’s 16.2 on bars, and Anna Dementyeva’s 15.4 on beam and 14.8 on floor. Other exceptional scores were Tatiana Nabieva’s 15.4 on bars, Viktoria Komova’s 15.3 on beam and Yulia Belokobilskaya’s 14.5 on floor.
Komova only competed bars and beam today, and if I am correct in assuming that the top 8 from the all around qualify to event finals will only compete bars and beam there. Alexandrov sounds optimistic but not certain that she will be recovered from her injury in time for Europeans. At the very least, I hope they send her for bars which she could win. If she isn’t in good enough shape to compete all around by then, it looks like Anna Dementyeva will be a likely candidate to represent Russia. Her all around score of 58.55 is even higher than it was yesterday, and from her scoring she appears to be much more consistent than she was last year.
The competition ends this weekend with the event finals.
